Good morning class! Everyone should have turned in their semester project to me on Tuesday. If you did not submit it to me, you must do so ASAP!
Be reminded that you lose participation points when you are caught on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and similar sites. You may listen to music on a site like www.grooveshark.com that does NOT have videos. If music starts to interfere with your ability to complete your work or stay on task, you will lose that privilege.
Warm Up:

What are 3 things you would like to see fixed, changed, or improved at Eastern in the Fall? Pretend we have a magic wand to make all your scholastic dreams come true! Explain your answer!
Assignment:
The Module 2 Test is live in Moodle for the rest of the marking period. You have two attempts to take the test, but be sure to review some of the modules before you begin. Once you begin, you must complete the test. If you come across something you can’t answer in the first attempt, make a note of it and research it before taking your second attempt. You must see me to get the password to take the test. Good luck!

I had a dream last night that my Grandma Horner was still alive. We called her Mom Mom. In my dream she gave me my inheritance and handed me a check for $500,000. I was really excited, until I saw that she handed a check to my daughter for $5.3 million and a check to my son Carlos for $5 million. Then, I was jealous! Are you able to remember your dreams? If so, what is a dream you can remember?

Good morning class! I hope everything has been going well and you are making good use of your time in completing this week’s assignments. I’ve really been learning a lot about the IB Middle Years Programme and feel it will be really helpful in guiding the way I develop my lessons and assessments. I seriously need your help! I know my flight numbers for my return flight tonight, but I don’t remember what time my flight leaves Tampa and when I’m arriving in Grand Rapids. Your warm up activity for today is to go to Delta Air’s website (google it) and find the section for checking my FLIGHT STATUS. All I know is that my first flight, from Tampa, is flight #1850 to Cincinnati, Ohio. My second flight is #6051 to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I need you to tell me what time each flight departs and if it is ON TIME, DELAYED, or CANCELED. Finally, what time will I arrive in Grand Rapids? This is a real-world skill that is used by thousands of businessmen and women, secretaries, and travel agents every day!

Good morning class. I hope your week is going well so far! I had the pleasure of swimming in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. It is saltwater, which is weird for a Michigan native, but it was really nice and warm.

I am still in Florida for today and tomorrow, so I need your help looking up the weather for today and tomorrow. Go to www.yahoo.com and type in St. Pete Beach Zip Code to find out the zip code, since www.weather.com won’t recognize St. Pete Beach if you type in the city name for the weather forecast. Once you go to weather.com, type in the zip code and look at the 5 day forecast. Here are the questions you must answer: 1. What is the Zip Code for St. Pete Beach. 2. What is the weather forecast for today and tomorrow (temperature and sunny/cloudy/etc).

Happy Monday everyone! I’m posting the blog today from sunny St. Pete Beach, Florida! I will be at an IB Conference for the next three days, but thanks to the wonders of technology and the internet, I will be posting your blog from the other end of the country! Be sure to be on task and use your time wisely. J

Go to www.mapquest.com and click on driving directions. Type in Lansing, MI as the starting place and St. Pete Beach, FL as the ending place and find the driving distance from Lansing to where I’m at for my conference this week. About how far is it in miles? How long would the drive take? Why is there more than one possible answer?

Happy Friday class! Be sure to be on task and using your time wisely. This week, we are working in Moodle on a section about e-mail. Due dates are given below. I am not announcing the next due dates because I want people that need to finish up missing work to use today to do so. If you are all caught up, you may continue in Moodle. Mid-Marking Period Grades have been submitted and the results for some students in this class are not so good. A lot of people did NOT follow the directions for the newspaper assignment. If you got a poor grade on the newspaper assignment, make the corrections and resubmit it. The problem for students who received a bad grade is that they copied articles instead of writing a one paragraph summary of each article. The paragraphs should be in your own words with your own “voice”, not using the same phrases and words that the reporter chose to use. J

Be reminded that you lose participation points when you are caught on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and similar sites. You may listen to music on a site like www.grooveshark.com that does NOT have videos. If music starts to interfere with your ability to complete your work or stay on task, you will lose that privilege.

Warm Up:

Go to www.wikipedia.org and look up the article on Michigan. Toward the bottom is the population change over time. What is significant about the census for 2010? Why do you think the present population trend has occurred?

Assignment:

On our Computer Apps Semester 2 moodle site, the due date for 2.2.3 E-Mail: Providing Context and 2.2.4 E-Mail: Subject Lines Poster was Wednesday, May 2nd. When you are finished, take a look at the extra credit opportunity on the overhead, which is creating a chart to organize population data over the past 2 centuries. I don’t give extra credit very often, so this could really be for your benefit! If you have any questions, please let me know!

Be reminded that you lose participation points when you are caught on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and similar sites. You may listen to music on a site like www.grooveshark.com that does NOT have videos. If music starts to interfere with your ability to complete your work or stay on task, you will lose that privilege.
